Ranchi doesn’t feel like home. Eden Gardens doesn’t always feel like home. Dharamsala, with its altitude, feels alien. Different soils, climates, and times of the year bring variety to the surfaces. India isn’t like Australia, where every Boxing Day Test is in Melbourne. We don’t have a Pongal Test in Chennai annually. The pitches behave differently depending on the time of year.”
